What is Islam ?

Islam is a monotheistic religion that teaches the worship of one God (Allah) and follows the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). It is a complete way of life that provides spiritual and practical guidance for humanity.

The word "Islam" means "submission to the will of God," and a Muslim is someone who submits to God’s guidance. Islam is built upon five fundamental pillars:

Shahada (Faith) – Declaring belief in one God and that Muhammad pbuh is His final messenger.
Salah (Prayer) – Performing five daily prayers to maintain a connection with God.
Zakat (Charity) – Giving to the less fortunate to promote equality and compassion.
Sawm (Fasting) – Abstaining from food, drink, and other physical needs from dawn to sunset during Ramadan.
Hajj (Pilgrimage) – A journey to Mecca, required once in a lifetime for those who are able.

Islam emphasizes peace, compassion, justice, and personal development, guiding people to live ethically and harmoniously. It also recognizes earlier prophets like Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, and Jesus (peace be upon them all) as part of the same divine message.

Core beliefs

Islam is built on Six Articles of Faith:

Belief in Allah – The One and Only God.
Belief in Angels – Created by Allah, they obey His commands.
Belief in the Holy Books – The Quran is the final and preserved revelation.
Belief in the Prophets – From Adam to Muhammad (PBUH), the last and final messenger.
Belief in the Day of Judgment – Every soul will be accountable for its deeds.
Belief in Divine Decree – Everything happens according to Allah’s wisdom.
