The Day of Judgment
The Day of Judgment (Yawm al-Qiyamah) is a fundamental belief in Islam, where every person will be held accountable for their deeds. It is the day when Allah will resurrect all of humanity, judge them based on their actions, and decide their eternal fate in Paradise (Jannah) or Hellfire (Jahannam).
1. The Reality of the Day of Judgment
Allah confirms the coming of this day:
"Verily, the Hour (Day of Judgment) is coming—there is no doubt about it—but most of mankind do not believe."
📖 (Surah Ghafir 40:59)
2. Resurrection of All Humans
"Then surely, you will be resurrected on the Day of Judgment."
📖 (Surah Al-Mu’minun 23:16)
The Prophet ﷺ also said:
"O people! You will be gathered before Allah barefooted, naked and not circumcised." Then (quoting Qur'an) he said:-- "As We began the first creation, We shall repeat it. A promise We have undertaken: Truly we shall do it.." (21.104)
(Sahih al-Bukhari 3349, Muslim 2860)
3. The Weighing of Deeds
Every action, big or small, will be weighed on the Mizan (Scale of Justice).
"And We set up the scales of justice for the Day of Judgment, so no soul will be wronged in the least. And ˹even˺ if a deed is the weight of a mustard seed, We will bring it forth. And sufficient are We as a ˹vigilant˺ Reckoner"
📖 (Surah Al-Anbiya 21:47)
The Prophet ﷺ said:
"Two words are light on the tongue, heavy on the scales, and beloved to the Most Merciful: SubhanAllahi wa bihamdihi, SubhanAllahil-‘Azeem."
(Sahih al-Bukhari 6682, Muslim 2694)
4. The Book of Deeds
Every person will receive a book of their deeds:
"As for those who are given their record in their right hand, they will have an easy reckoning, and will return to their people joyfully. And as for those who are given their record ˹in their left hand˺ from behind their backs, they will cry for ˹instant˺ destruction, and will burn in the blazing Fire."
📖 (Surah Al-Inshiqaq 84:7-10)
5. The Bridge (As-Sirat) Over Hellfire
The Prophet ﷺ said:
"There will be a bridge set up over Hell, and I will be the first to cross it with my followers. Some will pass safely, some will be scratched, and some will fall into Hell."
(Sahih al-Bukhari 7439, Muslim 182)
6. Intercession of the Prophet ﷺ
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ will intercede for his followers:
"Abu Hurayrah narrated on the authority of the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, that every prophet had one answered prayer, and the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, saved his prayer to intercede for his nation on the Day of Judgment." [Al-Bukhari and Muslim.
7. Paradise & Hellfire
The final destinations:
"And those who believed and did righteous deeds will be admitted to Gardens under which rivers flow, abiding therein forever..."
📖 (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:82)
"And fear the Fire, which is prepared for the disbelievers."
📖 (Surah Aal-e-Imran 3:131)

All past sins are erased when you accept Islam. Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:
"Islam wipes out whatever came before it (of sins)." (Sahih Muslim 121)
You start fresh with a clean record. Everything you do now will be counted.
Allah is Most Merciful, and He rewards even the smallest good deeds.

The Day of Judgment is the moment when every hidden truth will be revealed, every soul will stand before its Creator, and every deed—big or small—will be brought to light. It is the day when illusions will fade, and the reality of our existence will become clear: that this life was only a test, a fleeting moment compared to the eternity that awaits.
On that day, wealth, status, and worldly success will mean nothing; only the sincerity of our hearts and the weight of our deeds will matter. It is a day of ultimate justice—where no oppression will go unanswered, no good deed will be overlooked, and every soul will receive exactly what it has earned. But beyond justice, it is also a day of infinite mercy, for Allah’s kindness is greater than our sins, and His forgiveness is reserved for those who sincerely turn back to Him.
The Day of Judgment is not meant to instill fear alone, but to awaken the heart—to remind us to live with purpose, to seek what is eternal over what is temporary, and to prepare for the meeting with the One who created us, who knows us better than we know ourselves, and who desires nothing more than to shower us with His mercy and welcome us into eternal peace.
